“I have been working in the field of professional counseling since 2009.  As a military spouse, our family has relocated frequently over the last 20 years.  We have been happy to settle in Cincinnati with our three kids and learned to love all things related to the city.  Our unique background has provided a wide variety of both professional and personal experiences and nurtured a love for diversity and travel.

Play is a child’s most natural language. Play Therapy is the most developmentally appropriate way for children to learn and practice social and emotional skills as well as treat many clinical mental health concerns. I am passionate about helping families understand the special and unique nature of each child, encouraging safe, caring relationships and helping to build adaptive skills that support every child to grow and thrive.

I am a Registered Play Therapist ᷾™, a Certified Child Centered Play Therapist, Foundation One Theraplay® Trained and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the state of Ohio. I use evidenced based practice to provide individualized care for each child, support family and care givers and provide a safe, developmentally appropriate therapeutic space. Effective therapeutic  space can help children facilitate meaningful changes by helping children process emotions effectively, progress toward social and emotional well-being, build essential regulation and relationship skills and increase resilience.

I work closely with parents to help them understand child development, facilitate attachment, strengthen relationships and provide behavioral support and school collaboration to meet the needs of their unique child and family.

As children grow and it is beneficial, I will integrate Adlerian play therapy techniques, Cognitive Behavioral techniques and Mindfulness to help meet therapeutic goals.

In my work with adults I use an attachment based, integrative approach.  I believe the foundation of counseling is a strong, trusting, therapeutic relationship.  I value individuals’ unique ways of processing and expressing emotions and work to honor the journey that brought you to where you are today.  Counseling creates a space to be intentional in our very busy lives and I believe that resilience is built through this intentionality. Together we can work to understand ways of thinking, emotions, relationships, behaviors and past experiences and use this knowledge to help build skills that can facilitate positive changes and meet goals.

I received a B.A. in Philosophy from Colorado State University and went on the complete my graduate work in Tennessee, at Austin Peay State University.  While in graduate school I completed the coursework for a Masters of Science in both Community Counseling as well as Professional School Counseling.  Over the years I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of states in both clinical counseling and school counseling roles, as well as spending several years at home with our young children. ”
